RedHawks Split Pair of Exhibition Games At Sioux Falls

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks played a pair of exhibition game against the Sioux Falls Pheasants, winning 8-5 on Monday night before falling 3-1 to Sioux Falls on Tuesday night.
 
On Monday, Fargo scored three times in the top of the first inning behind an RBI groundout from Jim Fasano and a two-run double from Brian Ruggiano. The RedHawks never trailed, adding three runs in the third inning and two unearned runs in the sixth.
 
Ruggiano finished 3-for-4 with two RBI. The Pheasants displayed light offense, but had two solo home runs from newcomer Francisco Leandro and Reggie Abercrombie.  Gus Milner chipped in a two-run double in the ninth inning for the Pheasants.
 
Both teams rotated in several pitchers for a few innings of work. Fargo reliever Kyle Carr worked two effective innings of relief, facing the minimum and notching the win. Sioux Falls hurler Terrence Engles took the loss. Aaron Cotter, Ryan Grant, Brandon Rapoza, Ben Rosen, and Chris Salberg all made appearances on the mound for Sioux Falls.
 
On Tuesday, Six different Sioux Falls pitchers combined to hold the RedHawks to one run and no walks. Ben Moore, the American Association's right-handed pitcher of the year last season, threw two scoreless innings in the fifth and sixth for the win. He struck out three.
 
Fargo-Moorhead took a 1-0 lead on Jason James' single in the fourth inning.  But the Pheasants scored twice in the bottom of the sixth on back-to-back hits from veterans Reggie Abercrombie and Brandon Sing. Abercrombie plated Kevin Carby with a single, and Sing followed with a double to score Abercrombie. Sing knocked in Abercrombie again in the eighth inning for the Pheasants' third run.  Sing was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Pheasants shortstop Kevin Carby also went 2-for-2 with a run scored.
 
Fargo lefty Adam Tollefson gave up the go-ahead runs in the sixth for the loss.
