Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks RHP Alex Caldera has been named the Pointstreak American Association Pitcher of the week ending May 20. Pointstreak is the official statistician of the American Association.
Caldera earned a victory in his first start of the season on Sunday evening against the El Paso Diablos in El Paso, TX. He pitched 6.1 innings of shutout baseball and allowed just three hits. Caldera recorded seven strikeouts and walked just two batters as Fargo-Moorhead claimed a 3-1 victory.
Caldera, an El Centro, CA, native, is in his second season with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. He was originally drafted by the Kansas City Royals organization and has also played in the Washington Nationals and Miami Marlins chains.
Sioux City Explorers SS Ryan Priddy was named the Pointstreak American Association Player of the Week.
The RedHawks continue their season-opening road trip tonight with the first game of a three-game series in Amarillo, TX against the Amarillo Sox. Game time is 7:05 p.m., and the game can be heard on 740AM The Fan, or online at www.fmredhawks.com. Jack Michaels will have the call, with the Sanford Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Pre-Game Show starting at 6:45 p.m.
