FARGO, ND – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 2014 schedule is set and features nine different opponents coming to Newman Outdoor Field during the 50-game home schedule, six fireworks nights and a nine-day trip to the East Coast for inter-league play.

The RedHawks will again travel to Texas to open the season.  Fargo-Moorhead will play a four-game series against the Laredo Lemurs starting on May 15 before moving on to face the Amarillo Sox in a three-game series.  The RedHawks will close out a season-opening 11-game road trip with four games against the Kansas City T-Bones.

The 2014 Home Opener will be Monday, May 26 (Memorial Day) at 6:00 p.m. against the Sioux Falls Canaries.  The seven-game homestand will also feature a four-game series with the Sioux City Explorers.  The series with the Canaries will include a School Day Game for kids on Tuesday, May 27 with a special 11:00 a.m. first pitch.

“It’s always a great day when the new schedule comes out,” said RedHawks GM Josh Buchholz. “We are looking forward to filling the home schedule with great baseball and great promotions for the best fans in independent baseball.”

Fargo-Moorhead will be home for eight weekends during the summer, six of which will feature a night of post-game fireworks.  The six Friday fireworks nights are scheduled for: May 30 vs. Sioux City; June 6 vs. Winnipeg; July 4 vs. Winnipeg; July 25 vs. St. Paul; August 8 vs. Gary and August 29 vs. Sioux Falls (Fan Appreciation Night).

Three of the very popular Business Day Games are on the schedule for 2014, all on Thursdays.  The Business Day Games are scheduled for: June 19 vs. a Can-Am League opponent; July 10 vs. Gary and August 28 vs. Kansas City.

The American Association will hold an All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 29, hosted by the Winnipeg Goldeyes at Shaw Park in Winnipeg, MB.  It’s the first All-Star Game for the league since 2010.

For the second consecutive season, the RedHawks will travel east for games against teams from the Can-Am League.  The RedHawks will play nine straight games on the East Coast from August 12-20.  A Can-Am League team will pay a visit to Newman Outdoor Field from June 17-19 for a three-game series.  Opponents will be announced when the Can-Am League schedule is released.

The RedHawks will close the regular season with ten straight games at home, concluding over Labor Day weekend with a four-game series against Sioux Falls.

The American Association will operate as a 12-team league in 2014.  The schedule will be a 100-game, full-season format with the three division winners and one wild card team making the playoffs.  With the departure of the El Paso Diablos, the Wichita Wingnuts will now play in the South Division.

Standard game times in 2014 remain unchanged.  First Pitch for Monday-Friday games will be at 7:02 p.m.  Saturday games will begin at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday games are set for 1:00 p.m.  Exceptions to these times are: May 26 (6:00 p.m.); May 27 (11:00 a.m.); June 19 (12:30 p.m.); July 10 (12:30 p.m.); August 3 (6:00 p.m.); August 28 (12:30 p.m.); August 31 (6:00 p.m.) and September 1 (1:00 p.m.).  The full RedHawks promotions schedule will be released in the spring.
