FARGO, ND -- The Winnipeg Goldeyes jumped out to an 8-0 lead and held on for an 8-4 victory over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Saturday night at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo in front of 3,990 fans.

The Fish were able to manufacture a run early in the ball game. With one out, walking Brock Bond moved all the way to third on a single by Luis Alen. Ryan Pineda got the RBI with a fielder’s choice, that resulted in a second out, however, in a run as well.  Winnipeg added another run the next inning.  Casey Haerther roped a double to the right field and scored on Donnie Webb’s sacrifice fly that made the score 2-0.

The flood gates opened in top of the third inning, when the Fish got three runs. Back-to-back-to-back single, double, and triple respectively followed by another sacrifice fly increased the Winnipeg lead to 5-0. The Fish piled on with two more runs came in the top of the next inning. With one out, Jake Laber allowed a single, and a triple by Reggie Abercrombie meant another run. The third sacrifice fly of the game led to the seventh run of the game.  In the top of the sixth, Tyler Kuhn crossed the home plate on Ray Sadler’s RBI, and those were all the runs the Goldeyes brought in.

Fargo-Moorhead’s response to the eight runs first came in the bottom of the sixth frame. Sawyer Carroll led things off with a walk. Zach Penprase followed with a double. Ronnie Bourquin blasted a three-run homer, making the score to 8-3. The ‘Hawks would add only one more run, when Petey Paramore scored on Dusty Robinson’s single to center field.
