01/19/2015 1:11 PM -

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have signed INF Jared Schlehuber and acquired RHP Jeremy Gooding from the Amarillo Thunderheads for OF Sawyer Carroll and RHP Erik Draxton.

Schlehuber, 26, has spent the past three seasons in the Kansas City Royals organization and split time in 2014 between the Wilmington Blue Rocks of the Carolina League (High-A) and the Northwest Arkansas Naturals of the Texas League (Double-A). Between the two clubs, he batted .214 with 14 doubles, eight home runs, 32 RBIs and 29 runs scored in 93 games.

In his three-year career, Schlehuber has batted .260 with 48 doubles, one triple, 21 home runs, 110 RBIs and 85 runs scored in 208 games. He has played the majority of his games at first base, but has also seen extensive time at third base.

Schlehuber played his final three years of college baseball at Oral Roberts University and was the Summit League Player of the Year in 2012 after batting .316 with 15 doubles, 13 home runs, 56 RBIs and 43 runs scored in 63 games.

Gooding, 24, joins the RedHawks after pitching last season with the Fort Worth Cats of the United Baseball League and the Amarillo Sox. He was 2-2 with a 1.65 ERA in six starts for Fort Worth before being acquired by Amarillo in late August. Gooding made two starts for the Sox and was 0-0 with a 1.50 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 12.0 innings pitched.

Gooding played college baseball at Madonna University (NAIA) in his hometown of Livonia, Michigan. In four years, he was 31-8 with a 1.78 ERA in 52 games (44 starts) and two saves. Gooding holds career records at Madonna in eight pitching categories, including: wins, ERA; lowest batting average against (.202); strikeouts (317); innings pitched (308.1); starts (44); complete games (19); and K/9 innings (9.25).

REDHAWKS NOTES…
