The Northern League typically conducts a free agent tryout camp in late winter, at which all Northern League clubs are present.

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks typically do not hold open tryouts for the spots on the team. 

Players interested in being considered for a spot on the team must meet the following minimum requirements:
  1. Played college baseball within the past 2 years or professionial baseball within the past 4 years
  2. Completed all college eligibility
  3. Meet team fitness standards and be able to pass a medical and orthopaedic physical from RedHawks authorized doctors
  4. Be available from May 1 through the end of the season (early to mid-September)
  5. Be legally admissible to Canada
