Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks outfielder Nic Jackson has been named Rawlings Northern League Player of the Month for July.
Jackson, who leads the league with 62 RBI on the season, batted .376 (41-for-109) with nine doubles, four home runs, 32 RBI, and 19 runs scored in the month. He also had six stolen bases in seven attempts in that span. In July, he collected at least one RBI in 21 of 27 games and a hit in 22 of 27 games. His month also included 13 multi-hit games and a 15-game hitting streak (July 15th – 29th).
He currently ranks amongst the league leaders in multiple categories: first in RBI (62) and hits (89), third in average (.338), fifth in home runs (13) and on-base percentage (.404). Jackson received Player of the Week honors for the Week ending July 26th.
The 6-3, 200-pounder, is an eight-year veteran and former third round draft pick (76th pick overall) of the Chicago Cubs in the 2000 Amateur Draft out of the University of Richmond (Richmond, VA). Over his career, he spent parts of two seasons at Triple-A and three years at Double-A. Besides the Cubs, he also played for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies organizations.
Players also receiving Player of the Month votes were Juan Diaz (.301, 12 HR, 35 RBI) of the Winnipeg Goldeyes and Aharon Eggleston (.406, 0 HR, 17 RBI) of the Kansas City T-Bones.
