FARGO, ND (8/8/17) --- Tyler Alexander was simply dominant Tuesday night, leading the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to a 5-0 win over the Kansas City T-Bones.
The game was a tale of two pitcher. While Alexander excelled, T-Bones starter Chris Perry had a difficult time finding the strike zone. Perry lasted just 1.2 and surrendered all five runs during that time.
Josh Mazzola was huge in landing Alexander his fifth win of the season. The reliable third baseman singled home Devan Ahart for the game’s first run in the bottom of the second. Mazzola also drove his center fielder in in the bottom of the second by following up an Ahart RBI double with a two run shot over the left field fence.
Alexander allowed just three baserunners on the night (one hit and two walks) while striking out 13 batters, something he did exactly one year ago.
Alexander’s dominate performance wasn’t without defensive help. Charlie Valerio and Brandon Tierney teamed up for a rare double play in the top of the sixth. With a runner on first Valerio caught foul fly behind home plate and then proceeded to throw down to second to tag Zane Chavez who was attempting a steal on the pitch.
Winning Pitcher: Tyler Alexander (5-5)
Losing Pitcher: Chris Perry (3-4)
What’s Next?: The series finale is scheduled for 7:02 pm tomorrow night.
