FARGO, ND (8/9/17) --- The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks fell victim to the longball Wednesday night in a 4-3 loss to the Kansas City T-Bones.
Tyler Herron had the difficult job of following Tyler Alexander’s one-hit shutout performance yesterday. The seasoned veteran held serve until the top of the fourth when Marcus Lemon and Kevin Keyes hit back-to-back solo home runs to give the T-Bones a 2-0 lead.
The Kansas City lead jumped to three in the top of the sixth when Tyler Horan hit an RBI double but the RedHawks plated two of their own in the inning including an RBI double by Chris Grayson.
Those two runs were the only ones allowed by former big leaguer Scott Carroll in his seven innings of work.
Kansas City homered again in the 8th to push the lead to 4-2. this time via another for big leaguer Cedric Hunter
The RedHawks tacked one on the T-Bones’ bullpen in the bottom of the frame but it was too little too late. Cody Winiarski needed just 10 pitches to strike out the side in the ninth and pick up a win for Kansas City and his 15th save of the season.
Winning Pitcher: Scott Carroll (8-3)
Losing Pitcher: Tyler Herron (6-3)
Save: Cody Winiarski (15)
What’s Next?: The RedHawks have tomorrow off before starting a series at home with Gary on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:02 pm.
