FARGO, ND (8/21/17) --- The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks offense exploded Monday night on their way to a 9-3 win and a series split with the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
The RedHawks’ bats were dormant for most of the series, scoring a combined six runs in the the first three contests.
Will Solomon was dominant, tossing seven scoreless innings while allowing just four hits and striking out five. Carl Goldsmith followed by pitching a scoreless eighth before things got interesting with Tyler Thompson in the ninth.
With a nine run lead in the top of the ninth, Thompson allowed three runs on six consecutive singles before settling down and finishing up the game for Fargo-Moorhead.
Fargo-Moorhead jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the third with Devan Ahart scoring on a wild pitch and Josh Mazzola and Chris Grayson picking up RBIs.
The RedHawks scored four more runs in the bottom of the fifth, including three on a home run by Keury De La Cruz.
All but one of the nine runs came against Winnipeg starter Edwin Carl,
Devan Ahart added a solo home run in the the next frame off of Kenny Mathews.
What’s Next?: The RedHawks travel to Sioux Falls to play a doubleheader with the Canaries. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05.
