The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks announce the signing of right handed pitcher Travis Ballew to the 2018 roster. Ballew played collegiately for Texas State and was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 23rd round of the 2012 MLB Amateur draft. He signed with the RedHawks in 2016, appearing in 10-games before having his contract purchased by the Miami Marlins.
“Travis was on our pitching staff a few years ago before being signed by the Miami Marlins organization,” said RedHawks Manager Michael Schlact. “He’s a fierce competitor, great person and someone that we have a lot of confidence in every time he toes the rubber. We’re excited to have him back in a RedHawks uniform and are looking for big things out of his powerful arm.”
In the 10-games Ballew appeared in for the RedHawks, he posted a 1-0 record, with a 1.64 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 11 innings. He also contributed four saves.
