FARGO -- Pointstreak has named Sebastian Kessay the American Association Pitcher of the Week after his 10-strikeout performance against Cleburne last Monday. Kessay fanned 10 and walked none, giving up only one unearned run in his American Association debut.
Kessay, who was originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the 22nd Round of the 2013 MLB Draft, did got get a decision in his first start of the year, but he was phenomenal in his first start for the RedHawks. Kessay spent last season with the Buies Creek Astros (Advanced A). He went 6-3 with a 3.58 ERA, 55 strikeouts, 43 hits allowed, and 23 walks in 50.1 innings of work over 26 relief appearance.
Kessay is the first Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks player to be named a player fo the week by Pointstreak this season.
The RedHawks are 5-4 and will begin a series with the Sioux Falls Canaries at Newman Outdoor Field tonight at 6 PM. Kessay is scheduled to make his second start of the year in the series opener.
