RedHawks Bounce Back to Even Series With SaintsFARGO, N.D. — A day after their 10-game win streak was snapped, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks had to endure the swampy conditions and exploded for eleven runs on fourteen hits Saturday against St. Paul to get back in the win column with an 11-1 victory over the first-place Saints in front of 3,331 fans at Newman Outdoor Field.
Each of the RedHawks in the starting lineup contributed to the victory with at least one hit, and all but T.J. Bennett came around to score a run. Bennett did contribute 2 RBIs, and four other RedHawks added RBIs of their own. Brennen Metzger led the team with three RBIs in the 10-run victory.
Brian Olson got the RedHawks on the board in the third inning with an RBI double to drive in Leo Pina, and Metzger followed it up with a single that drove in Olson to give the RedHawks a 2-1 lead. F-M never looked back from there, scoring two more in the fifth thanks to a pair of doubles from Tim Colwell and Chris Jacobs. The RedHawks added five in the fifth and two more in the eighth to put a bow on the victory.
In just his second start of the year, Taylor Bloye went five innings and gave up one run on three hits and secured himself seven strikeouts. RedHawks relief pitchers, Michael Hope and Carter Hope, also had a great night, allowing no runs and two hits through four innings.
Tonight’s win brings the RedHawks (26-15) back to within 1.5 games of St. Paul (27-13) for first place in the north division of the American Association. The RedHawks and Saints will finish up their series tomorrow at 1:00 PM. |
