Jesse Hoorelbeke drove in four runs and three pitchers combined for a shutout as the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks closed out their four-game series against the Gary SouthShore RailCats on Thursday afternoon with a 7-0 win.
Hoorelbeke was 2-for-3 on the day and hit his league-leading 19th home run, a three-run shot in the fifth inning.
Fargo-Moorhead (40-19) had three pitchers combine to hold the RailCats scoreless in the ballgame. Starter T.J. Stanton (3-3) picked up the win, going six innings and allowing just two hits. He also struck out two and walked four. Matt Petrusek pitched two innings of scoreless relief and southpaw Jeremy Hauer closed out the ninth with a shutout inning of his own.
Designated hitter Eric Campbell also had a big day at the plate for the RedHawks, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and hitting his tenth home run of the season. Leadoff man Mike Coles was 3-for-5 and drove in a run for Fargo-Moorhead.
Gary (26-30) starter Brad Halsey (3-5) was saddled with the loss. The former big leaguer allowed six runs on nine hits over five innings of work. He struck out two and walked one.
Designated hitter Mike Reese was 2-for-4 on the day for the RailCats.
Gary will return home to host a three-game series against Lake County starting tomorrow while Fargo-Moorhead will continue their ten-day homestand by welcoming Joliet to Newman Outdoor Field.
