The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (12-10) soared to a 13-4 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs (10-12) on Saturday night at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, ND.
The 3,265 RedHawks fans that made the trip to Newman Outdoor Field tonight were treated to a wild and wacky night at the ballpark. The RedHawks scored 13 runs on 17 hits (both season highs). Carlo Cota recorded the team’s season-high for hits in a game with four while matching the season-high for runs in a game with three.
Meanwhile, the shortstops from both teams struggled defensively as they combined for six total errors. Zach Penprase had four of them, tying an American Association record for errors in a game.
Jake Laber (3-0, 0.86) earned the win after going 6.1 innings. Laber gave up three runs (all unearned) and nine hits. Lindsay Gulin (1-5, 7.03) was charged with the loss.
RedHawks fans were also treated to Matt Mossey’s first pitching performance of the season. Mossey was an All-Star for the RedHawks during last year’s championship season.
The RedHawks will go for their first series sweep of the 2011 season as they play the final game of their three-game series with Lincoln on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm.
