The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have activated RHP Chad Rhoades from the Inactive List and released LHP Scott Fogelson and RHP Matt Mossey. Rhoades will be in uniform tonight as the RedHawks open an eight-game road trip with the first of four games against the St. Paul Saints at 7:05 p.m. at Midway Stadium.
Rhoades, 28, was 3-2 with a 2.68 ERA in nine games (seven starts) for Fargo-Moorhead last season before an injury ended his season. He pitched 40.1 innings and allowed 16 runs (12 earned) on 41 hits. Rhoades struck out 21 batters and walked ten. Rhoades will likely be used out of the bullpen for the RedHawks.
Rhoades was signed by the Boston Red Sox as a non-drafted free agent out of Oklahoma Baptist University in 2006. He spent most of the 2008 and all of the 2009 season with Portland of the Eastern League (AA). In four seasons with the Red Sox, Rhoades was 15-11 with a 4.07 ERA and 20 saves in 171 games.
Fogelson, who suffered an injury in his last start, is 2-4 with a 5.92 ERA in eights starts this season. Mossey is 1-0 with a 6.08 ERA in eight relief appearances in 2011.
