Bullpen, Eggleston Lead T-Bones Over RedHawks 7-5![]() FARGO, N.D. – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (27-32) fell 7-5 to the Kansas City T-Bones (26-33) on Friday night at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, ND. The RedHawks looked poised to bust out for a big offensive game in the third inning. Todd Jennings and Zach Penprase hit back-to-back doubles to start get the ball rolling. Carlo Cota was put out on a line drive to the shortstop. Then, Penprase stole third base; Nic Jackson walked and stole second base shortly thereafter. Kyle Nichols roped a double off the left field wall to give the RedHawks a 3-0 lead. The RedHawks were forced to settle with that as T.J. Large got the next two batters to minimize the damage.
Meanwhile, Alex Caldera allowed only two hits through 4.2 innings. At that point though, the momentum turned, and the T-Bones strung together two extra-base hits, two singles, and two walks to score four runs and chase Caldera.
The T-Bones manufactured another run in the sixth inning for a 5-3 lead. Aharon Eggleston led off with a walk. Eggleston proceeded to steal second base, move to third on a sac bunt, and score on a sacrifice fly.
The bottom of the RedHawks order answered the bell in the bottom of the sixth inning though. C.J. Retherford started the inning with a double. He scored on a single by Mike Coles. Jennings followed with a single of his own. With runners at first and second with no outs, the RedHawks pulled off a double steal which forced an errant throw to second by the catcher and allowed Coles to tie the game at five. The T-Bones were again able to limit the rally by getting three straight outs.
Kansas City put together another two-out rally in the seventh inning. Ray Sadler reached on an infield single and Jim Fasano doubled to right before Eggleston drove both of them in with a line drive through the infield.
The T-Bones refused to relinquish the lead after that as Drew Graham (W, 1-0) and Kyle Dahman (S, 1) combined to sit down the last twelve RedHawk batters in order. William Jackel (0-1) received his first loss of the year after giving up two runs (all earned) over two innings.
