The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have re-signed CF Nic Jackson to a contract. Jackson is the tenth player signed by the RedHawks for the 2012 season.
Jackson, 32, returns for this fourth season with Fargo-Moohread this summer. In 2011, he batted .287 with 23 doubles, one triple, six home runs, 65 RBIs and 52 runs scored in 98 games. Jackson also stole a career-high 28 bases for Fargo-Moorhead.
In his first three seasons with the RedHawks, Jackson has batted .301 with 79 doubles, one triple, 37 home runs, 233 RBIs and 203 runs scored in 292 games played. In his first season with Fargo-Moorhead in 2009, he was the Northern League Most Valuable Player and led the RedHawks to a championship. Jackson put together another All-Star season in 2010 and helped Fargo-Moorhead to another title.
Jackson began his professional career in 2000 when the Chicago Cubs selected him in the third round of that year’s draft out of the University of Richmond (VA). Jackson reached the Triple-A level with the Cubs in 2003 and 2004.
“Nic is an important player for us and we think he can have a really big year in 2012,” said RedHawks Manager Doug Simunic. “His season last year was hurt by some nagging injuries that he played through, but we anticipate he’ll be able to bounce back this year and be a leader for us.”
