Bourquin, RedHawks Come Back to Defeat Sox 9-3![]() FARGO, N.D. – Ron Bourquin drove in five runs and the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks earned their 60th win of the season in a 9-3 victory over the Amarillo Sox Thursday at Newman Outdoor Field. The RedHawks have now reached the 60-win plateau in back-to-back years and achieved the feat for the 8th time in the club’s 18 years since they were formed. “It’s a big feat for us that we shoot for every year,” RedHawks manager Doug Simunic said. “We’re proud of that mark and we’ve done it seven other times. A good job by everybody in the organization.” Amarillo scored the first three runs of the game in the second before Fargo-Moorhead (60-36) began their comeback. After scoring one run in the third, singles by Buddy Sosnoskie and Zach Penprase in the fourthset up Ron Bourquin for a three-run home run that gave the RedHawks a 4-3 lead. Fargo-Moorhead put the game out of reach with a five-run fifth. The RedHawks loaded the bases with zero outs on two singles and an intentional walk. Todd Jennings hit a two-run single, Penprase smacked an RBI double and Bourquin completed a three-hit performance with a two-run double for the eventual final score. RedHawks starter Brian Ernst went five innings and gave up three earned runs on six hits as he improved to 7-2 this season. Derrick Miramontes pitched three hitless innings of relief – striking out five and walking three batters – and Ethan Opsahl struck out one and allowed a hit in a scoreless ninth. The RedHawks outhit the Sox (51-45) 16-7 in the ballgame. Eight players had hits for the ‘Hawks, while Kyle Nichols was the only Amarillo player with a multi-hit game. Jason Johnson dropped to 5-6 in the loss. He went 3 2/3 innings and allowed four runs on 10 hits.
