The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have signed RHP Chase Boruff to a contract, the club announced. Boruff was acquired last week from the Florence Freedom of the Frontier League for a player to be named later.
Boruff, 26, pitched last season with the Sioux Falls Canaries. He was returning from Tommy John surgery and struggled to a 0-2 record with an 8.68 ERA in 20 games. He struck out 23 batters in 28.0 innings. Boruff missed the entire 2013 season due to his surgery.
Boruff began his professional career in 2010 after signing as a non-drafted free agent with the Kansas City Royals organization. His best season was in 2011, when he was 4-1 with a 2.29 ERA and seven saves for the Kane County Cougars of the Midwest League (A).
