REDHAWKS SIGN MIKE SCHULTZ
FARGO, N.D. – The Fargo Moorhead RedHawks signed C Mike Schultz today. Schultz was with the St. Paul Saints as a bullpen catcher after being released from the Saints.
Schultz just finished his collegiate career with the Bethel Royals in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. He played three seasons for the Royals, having transferred from Minnesota State Mankato after his freshman season with the Mavericks.
In 2015 (senior season), Schultz batted .368 with 10 home runs, 35 RBIs, 37 hits, and four stolen bases. In his three year Royal career, he posted a .313 average with a .382 on-base percentage and a .573 slugging mark. Bethel’s catcher and designated hitter collected 120 hits, which included 11 triples, 15 home runs, while also scoring 83 runs and driving in 85 more.
A native of Forest Lake, MN, Schultz was named a first team All-MIAC selection, to the All-MIAC defensive team, D3baseball.com All-Region, and ABCA/Rawlings All-Region following his senior season. His 10 home runs and 98 total bases in 2015 are both in the Top 4 all-time at Bethel for a single season. Moreover, his 33 career doubles, 15 home runs, and his 11 triples rank No. 5, No. 4, and No. 2, respectively, in the Royals record book.
