FARGO, N.D. – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks made a roster move on Wednesday morning before beginning a six game road trip at Sioux City and Kansas City, signing C Luke Bailey and releasing C Joe Staley.
Luke Bailey was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 4th round of the 2009 draft out of Troup County High School in LaGrange, GA and spent the first five seasons of his professional career with the organization.
Bailey spent the 2014 season in Advanced-A ball with the Charlotte Stone Crabs in the Florida State League and Double-A with the Montgomery Biscuits. While in Double-A, Bailey played in 17 games going 11-for-50 (.220) with a pair of doubles and five RBIs.
He began 2015 in the American Association with the Laredo Lemurs. Bailey played in 51 games for Laredo, batting .214 with 37 hits, 25 RBIs and eight home runs before being released by the team on July 25th.
Staley batted .259 with 58 hits, 28 RBIs and 27 runs scored in 61 games played for Fargo-Moorhead this season.
The team begins its six game road trip tonight with a 7:05 start time against the Sioux City Explorers. After three with Sioux City the RedHawks have a three-game set with Kansas City beginning on Saturday night before returning home for three games with Gary SouthShore.
