After Fargo-Moorhead won the suspended game against the Goldeyes with some timely hitting, the team was held to three hits in total in their 1-0 loss at Newman Outdoor Field on Wednesday in seven innings.
Ryan Pineda had the team's first hit in their second at-bat of the game, but the next hitter grounded into a double play and that indicated how the rest of the night would go. Ethan Carnes did a fantastic job for the road team in his five and two-thirds innings, yielding just three hits to the home team. Eric Eadington came in for his third save of the year and struck out three as well.
Brian Ernst did solid in his second start of the season with F-M. He allowed just one run on Friday and one run in this contest. Unfortunately he received plenty of run support with eight on Friday, and none in this game. He did go the distance (albeit only seven innings) and struck out eight while allowing just six hits. The run he gave up came in the fourth when Adam Heisler scored on a Reggie Abercrombie double.
The home team just couldn't get anything done on offense throughout the game. Even when Brian Humphries led off the fifth inning with a double, the next three batters couldn't do anything to advance him. In the sixth two batters were walked, but no runs came across then either.
Ernst moves to 1-1 and Carnes is now 5-1. The RedHawks' next game will be in Joplin for a four-game series with the Blasters. Game one is scheduled for Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
