REDHAWKS SET OPENING DAY 21-MAN ROSTER; DE LA CRUZ SOLD TO MARINERSFARGO, ND – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks will open the 2017 American Association season tonight in Grand Prairie, Texas against the Texas AirHogs, but the 21-man roster will be missing a top player. OF Keury De La Cruz has had his contract sold to the Seattle Mariners organization.
Doug Simunic’s squad will feature 11 pitchers and ten position players as the season gets underway, including nine players from the 2016 squad. The full roster is below (* denotes returning player).

Simunic, who is back for his 22nd season as manager of the RedHawks, will have a coaching staff of Michael Schlact (Pitching Coach-3rd Year), Kole Zimmerman (Hitting Coach-6th Year) and Robbie Lopez (Bullpen Coach-15th Year).
Tonight’s game, and the entire season, can be heard on 740 AM The Fan. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and Brad Anderson will handle the play-by-play. Fans can also watch every game this season online atwww.americanassociationbaseball.tv.
De La Cruz will report to the Arkansas Travelers, the Mariners affiliate in the Texas League (AA), pending a physical. He is the 72nd player in club history, and seventh in the past year, to have his contract purchased by a Major League organization.
De La Cruz was named the American Association “Star of Stars” in 2016 after batting .316 with 32 doubles, 18 home runs, 72 RBIs and 76 runs scored in 99 games for Fargo-Moorhead. He was selected to play in the American Association/Can-Am League All-Star game and was named to the Post-Season All-Star team as well.
