FARGO, ND --- Home run magic struck the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks Monday night in a 5-3 win against the Sioux Falls Canaries on Harry Potter Night. The magic started in the bottom of the first when Vaughn Bryan and Josh Mazzola both hit solo shots to give the RedHawks an early 2-0 lead. Will Solomon took advantage of the early run support, giving up just 2 runs on 7 hits in 6.2 innings of work while striking out 6 and walking 2 on the way to his second win of the season. Sioux Falls cut the lead to one in the top of the third thanks to 2 doubles. Dan Motl hit the first two bagger and advanced to third on a passed ball charged to Jesus Posso. He then scored on a double by Jabari Henry. KD Kang answered with an RBI double of his own in the bottom of the fourth plating Mazzola to extend the lead back to 2. Devan Ahart had the third and final home run for the RedHawks in the bottom of the eighth. Driving in two to give Fargo-Moorhead a 5-2 lead. Joe Bircher took the loss for the saints giving up 5 earned over 7 innings of work. The Canaries added 1 in the eighth and threatened in the ninth, loading the bases on Casey Weathers with three walks. With two outs last season’s American Association home run leader, Burt Reynolds stepped to the plate looking to extend the evening for Sioux Falls but Weathers came through picking up his third strikeout of the inning and his eighth save of the season.
