FARGO, ND --- The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks scored a run in three consecutive innings and added one late to take game-two against the Sioux Falls Canaries 4-3 on Tuesday night.
Charlie Valerio brought some of yesterday’s home run magic to the ballpark scoring the game’s first run with a solo shot off of Bryce Morrow in the bottom the second. In the next inning Devan Ahart doubled and later scored on an error by the shortstop, Blake Schmit. Valerio finished off the scoring streak in the third, scoring on an RBI groundout by Jesus Posso.
RedHawks starting pitcher, Zach Prendergast, held Sioux Falls hitless through 6 innings before surrendering a lead off base knock to Louis Mele in the top of the seventh. The Canaries took advantage of the lead off single tacking 3 runs (2 earned) on the rookie pitcher to tie the game 3-3.
Fargo-Moorhead responded in the very next frame when Derrick Fox scored on a wild pitch to take a 4-3 lead.
Richie Tate held the lead pitching a scoreless eighth before turning the ball over to Trey McNutt. McNutt gave the Canaries a glimmer of hope, walking the first two batters before retiring the side and handing the RedHawks a 4-3 win.
