FARGO, ND --- The Saint Paul Saints’ (28-18) horse drawn carriage turned back into a pumpkin when the clock struck seven Thursday night allowing the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (24-23) to secure a 6-1 win on Princess Night over the division leaders.
In the bottom of the second, the RedHawks took advantage of a number of Saints miscues that included errors by Jon Kristtoferson and Tony Thomas as well as a balk by Ryan Zimmerman to manufacture a 2-0 lead on two unearned runs.
Fargo-Moorhead tacked three more on Zimmerman in the very next inning when Trever Adams homered to drive in Josh Mazzola who was beamed and KD Kang who was walked.
Tyler Herron, who nearly went the distance for his second consecutive start, gave up his only run in the very next frame when the Saints scored on back to back doubles by Nate Hanson and Brady Shoemaker.
Chris Grayson picked up an RBI double in the sixth, plating Charlie Valerio to bring the game to 6-1.
After a commanding eight innings of work, Herron turned the ball over to Casey Weathers who struck out the side to close out Princess Night with a happy ending.
Winning Pitcher: Tyler Herron (3-1)
Losing Pitcher: Ryan Zimmerman (3-3)
