FARGO, ND – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have sold the contract of RHP Zach Prendergast to the St. Louis Cardinals organization. Prendergast is the 73rd player sold to a Major League organization in RedHawks history, and second player sold this season.
Prendergast has been outstanding in his professional debut with Fargo-Moorhead. The true rookie from Seton Hall University (NJ) was 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA in four starts. Prendergast pitched 26.0 innings and allowed seven runs (six earned) on just 18 hits. He struck out 25 batters and eight.
In his final start with Fargo-Moorhead, Prendergast threw 7.0 shutout innings against the St. Paul Saints at CHS Field in St. Paul on Sunday night. He struck out nine batters, walked two and allowed six hits.
“This is an outstanding opportunity for Zach to continue his professional career,” said RedHawks Manager Doug Simunic. “He did a great job for the RedHawks after coming to us undrafted and he’s earned this opportunity to get to affiliated baseball.”
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks wrap up their three-game series with the Sioux Falls Canaries tonight in Sioux Falls. They return to Newman Outdoor Field tomorrow night for a three-game series with the Cleburne Railroaders.
