The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks announce the signing of outfielder Breland Almadova to the 2018 roster. A native of Honolulu, HI, Almadova was drafted out of the University of Hawaii at Manoa by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 37th round of the 2012 MLB Amateur draft. He is no stranger to the American Association, playing the last two seasons with the St. Paul Saints.
“We have watched Breland play against us the past few seasons for the St. Paul Saints and saw his ability to track down a lot of baseballs in the outfield, but also wreak havoc on the bases,” said RedHawks Manager Michael Schlact. “He missed some time last season with an injury, but now that he’s healthy we’re happy to have his presence in the lineup. We’re also excited to bring his passion for the game and abilities on the field to our uniform this summer.”
In two seasons with the Saints, Almadova appeared in 138 games, with a .256 batting average, 136 hits, 88 runs scored and 46 stolen bases. He was walked 52 times and posted an on base percentage of .323.
