The RedHawks (8-7) smacked 18 hits in a 10-2 win over the Gary SouthShore RailCats Sunday afternoon at U.S. Steel Yard.
Fargo-Moorhead scored three runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings to roll through Gary and avoid a sweep against the RailCats. Keury De La Cruz hit a three-run homer in the fourth to give the RedHawks the eventual game-winning run.
Tommy Mendonca and Joe DeLuca hit back-to-back home runs in the sixth to give Fargo-Moorhead a 7-2 lead. Mendonca's homer scored Charlie Valerio from second after the first baseman led off with a double.
An RBI single from De La Cruz and a two-run homer for Valerio got the RedHawks to their final tally of 10 runs in the seventh inning, and the bullpen locked it down to get Fargo-Moorhead back above .500 for the year.
Sebastian Kessay got the win for Fargo-Moorhead after going 5.0 innings and giving up two runs. He struck out three and walked five to move to 1-0 on the year. Anthony Pacillo, Reese Gregory, and Andrew Woeck combined to throw four shutout innings to secure the win.
The RedHawks will travel to Lincoln for a three-game series with the Saltdogs beginning Monday night at 6:45 PM.
