The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball and Pointstreak announced RedHawks pitcher Will Solomon as the AA Pitcher of the Week, for the week ending June 30th, 2018. Solomon threw a complete game on Thursday, June 28, against the Texas AirHogs, in which the lefty allowed only 1 run on 4 hits in the 13-1 win for the RedHawks. This is the second time the Georgia native has won the honor, with the first in July of last year.
"We're really proud of Will and the hard work that he puts in every day" said RedHawks manager Michael Schlact. "This honor is a testament to his diligence and considering the amount of quality pitchers in the league, makes it even more special for him".
In his third season with Fargo-Moorhead, Solomon is 4-4 this year with a 4.22 ERA and has 28 strikeouts in 49 innings pitched. Prior to the RedHawks, Will played college baseball for Kennesaw State University and was drafted by the San Diego Padres before being signed by the RedHawks in 2016.
Solomon is scheduled to make his next start on Tuesday, July 3rd against division rival St. Paul Saints at Newman Outdoor Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:02pm.
