All-Stars Coffman & Rick Re-Sign for 2010![]() The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have re-signed a pair of Northern League All-Stars, as LHP Broc Coffman and C Alan Rick have agreed to contracts for the 2010 season, the club announced today.
Coffman, 24, was 9-6 with a 5.16 ERA in 17 starts for the RedHawks in 2009. In 90.2 innings, Coffman allowed 62 runs (52 earned) on 104 hits. He struck out 42 batters and walked 45. Coffman led the Northern League with two shutouts and was second in victories and complete games (2).
In the post-season, Coffman made one start and it was stellar. He threw 5.1 innings of shutout baseball in Game 3 of the Northern League Finals against Gary. Coffman allowed just three hits and struck out four to earn the victory and help the RedHawks to the Northern League Championship.
In two seasons with the RedHawks, Coffman is 19-11 with a 3.97 ERA in 36 starts. He is a two-time Northern League All-Star and led the league in victories in 2009. Coffman joined the RedHawks in 2009 after three seasons in the Texas Rangers organization.
Rick, 26, batted .262 with 18 doubles, one triple, 18 home runs, 65 RBIs and 50 runs scored in 85 games for Fargo-Moorhead. He finished fifth in the Northern League in home runs while posting a .510 slugging percentage.
Rick earned several honors in 2009, including being named the Northern League Post-Season All-Star catcher and was named to the Baseball America All-Independent Second Team. He was also selected to play in the 2009 Northern League All-Star Game for the second time.
In two seasons with Fargo-Moorhead, Rick has batted .264 with 32 doubles, one triple, 33 home runs, 116 RBIs and 114 runs scored. He joined the RedHawks in 2009 after spending six seasons in the Chicago Cubs organization.
