REDHAWKS SWEEP MILKMEN, WIN SIXTH STRAIGHT

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (9-3) won their sixth straight game on Thursday night as they defeated the Milwaukee Milkmen (6-6) by a score of 7-5 at Newman Outdoor Field. The RedHawks have now swept back-to-back series and have the best record in the American Association. RHP Alex DuBord earned his fifth save of the season (most in the AAPB) in the game.

 

Fargo-Moorhead had only one extra-base hit, a solo home run by Drew Ward in the first inning, but reached base a total of 14 times (nine hits and five walks). Ward now has a 12-game hitting streak to start the 2022 regular season. Christian Correa went 0-for-3 but led the RedHawks with two RBI.

 

LHP Sebastian Kessay got the start for Fargo-Moorhead and gave up five runs on six hits and three walks in five innings pitched. RHP Davis Feldman (1-1) pitched two innings and got the win. Feldman did not allow a baserunner and struck out a batter. RHP Luke Lind pitched an inning of relief and gave up a hit before turning the ball over to DuBord in the ninth.

 

Milwaukee scored five runs in the first three innings of the game, including three off of a Keon Barnum home run in the third. Barnum and right fielder Chase Sedio each had two hits in the game. The Milkmen scored only one run in the final six innings of the game.

 

RHP Ryan Zimmerman pitched six innings and allowed five runs on five hits and four walks. He only struck out one batter in the game. RHP Christian Young (0-1) got the loss after allowing two runs on four hits in two innings pitched. 

 

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks will travel south and play the Sioux City Explorers tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. beginning a nine-game road trip. F-M went 6-3 in their first road trip of the season. The RedHawks will return to Newman Outdoor Field on Tuesday, June 7 when they face the Sioux Falls Canaries (5-8).
