RedHawks Sign Corsaletti; Acquire Pacella For Justice![]() The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have signed OF Jeff Corsaletti and acquired RHP J.J. Pacella from the Joliet JackHammers in exchange for OF Justin Jutice, the Northern League club announced today. Both Corsaletti and Pacella will be in Fargo when the RedHawks open training camp on May 6 at Newman Outdoor Field.
Corsaletti, 27, ended the 2009 season with the Altoona Curve, the Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He batted .230 with 14 doubles, three triples, two home runs, 23 RBIs and 31 runs scored in 89 games. Corsaletti began the season with the Pawtucket Red Sox of the International League (AAA), where he batted .128 in 13 games.
Corsaletti was originally selected by the Boston Red Sox in the sixth round of the 2005 draft out of the University of Florida, where he helped lead the Gators to a runner-up finish at the 2005 College World Series. In his five-year professional career, Corsaletti has batted .274 with 115 doubles, 15 triples, 37 home runs, 231 RBIs and 328 runs scored in 531 games. He has also posted an impressive .385 on-base percentage in his career.
Pacella, 26, ended the 2009 season with the Lake Erie Crushers of the Frontier League. In helping the Crushers to the championship, Pacella was 3-2 with a 2.63 ERA and nine saves in 29 games. He pitched 41.0 innings and allowed 13 runs (12 earned) on 26 hits while striking out 54 batters and walking 32. Pacella held opponents to a .179 batting average against him.
Pacella was originally signed by the River City Rascals of the Frontier League in 2007 out of Kent State (OH). He signed with the Houston Astros organization in 2008. In his career, he is 5-10 with a 3.85 ERA and 21 saves in 93 games. Pacella has struck out 161 batters in 149.2 innings pitched.
Justice, 25, batted .277 with 18 doubles, eight triples, 13 home runs, 51 RBIs and 52 runs scored in 88 games for the RedHawks in 2009.
