The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (7-7) dropped the series finale against the Winnipeg Goldeyes (8-6) by a score of 7-2 on Thursday night at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, ND.
Brian Myrow gave the Goldeyes a four-run lead in the first inning when he hit a grand slam to left field. Those four runs were all they would need to win the series finale and even the season series with the RedHawks at 4-4.
The RedHawks attempted to mount a comeback in the fifth inning. A double by Phil Britton, a walk to Jason James, and a single by Brian Ruggiano led off the inning, but the rally was held to only two total runs as two straight fielder’s choice plays and a picked off runner followed.
Zach Baldwin picked up the win to bring his record to 2-0. Baldwin pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless baseball without allowing a hit. Zach Ward received the loss after giving up five runs (all earned) on four hits and four walks.
The RedHawks will host the Sioux City Explorers tomorrow night at Newman Outdoor Field for the first game of a four-game series. Friday will be the first firework game of the year. Game time is 7:02 pm. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 701-235-6161, online at www.fmredhawks.com, or at the Ticket Office during business hours.
