Hoorelbeke Homer Carries RedHawks to Victory![]() The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (9-8) used Jesse Hoorelbeke’s two-run home run in the fifth inning to beat the Sioux City Explorers (7-9) by a 4-1 score at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, ND.
The RedHawks allowed the Explorers to get a 1-0 lead in the third off a pair of walks, a hit batter, and a sacrifice fly. After that, it was all RedHawks as they took control and went on to win the game and the series.
With one out in the fourth inning, Jim Fasano and Carlo Cota singled to put runners on first and second. Phil Britton singled up the middle to score Fasano and tie the game.
In the fifth inning, Hoorelbeke hit a line drive home run over the wall in left field with Zach Penprase on base to give the RedHawks the lead. Hoorelbeke wasn’t done thought, as he doubled down the left field line in the seventh and scored on a single by Jason James to give him a two run, two hit, two RBI day at the plate.
Jake Laber (2-0) pitched seven innings allowing only one run (earned) on three hits to earn the win. Kyle Wright (2-1) was tagged with loss and had to leave the game early after taking a groundball off his leg with two outs in the fifth inning. Casey Hoorelbeke pitched a perfect eighth inning, and Alex Caldera closed out the ninth inning to pick up the save.
The RedHawks will travel to Winnipeg on Monday for a three-game series with the Goldeyes. The RedHawks will be back at Newman Outdoor Field on Friday, June 3, 2011 to face the Lincoln SaltDogs.
