The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (1-4) ended their season-opening hitting slump in big fashion in a 12-3 victory over the El Paso Diablos (1-4) at Cohen Stadium in El Paso on Monday night.
Tim Alberts led the RedHawks 20-hit barrage by going 4-for-6 with three home runs, five RBIs and four runs scored. Buddy Sosnoskie was 4-for-5 while Zach Penprase and Jose Garcia each collected three hits.
Taylor Stanton earned the victory for the RedHawks. He pitched 5.0 innings and allowed three runs on six hits. Alex Sunderland and Mackenzie King pitched 4.0 scoreless innings of relief to close out the game. El Paso starter Derek Forbes took the loss.
