RedHawks Top Lemurs Extra InningsLaredo, TX – With the game all tied at three runs apiece, the silent bats came alive for Fargo-Moorhead. The RedHawks led off the 10th with a softly hit ball just off the pitcher’s mound by Anthony Kaskadden that Mark Hayne was unable to field. Kaskadden was then pushed to second on a bunt by Brandon Newton and driven in on Petey Paramore’s double. Paramore would eventually come around to score on a single by Ronnie Bourquin, Making it 5-3. That would be all the RedHawks needed as Nate Garcia shut down the Lemurs offense in the bottom half of the inning to preserve the win. Joe Harris finished off the 8th and pitched the entire 9th was credited with the win, his second win in two games this year.
Walks plagued the Lemurs’ pitching staff tonight as they issued a combined 13 over 10 innings. Only one of those walks eventually scored but others helped push runners around the bases with ease. Mark Haynes walked three batters, along with giving up two hits, over two innings of work tonight and was saddled with the loss.
Mike Piazza had mixed results tonight in his first start of the season for Laredo. He went five innings allowing just two hits and striking out six RedHawk hitters. Walks got him in trouble as he issued six of them tonight. Fargo-Moorhead’s starter, Luis Sanz, also went five innings giving up three runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out four.
It looked like the Lemurs were about to take complete control of the game when ight fielder Harrison Kain gave the them their fifth hit of the game and first lead of the season on hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the fourth inning. That made the score 3-2 in favor of Laredo, but the Fargo-Moorhead pitchers were not done yet. The Lemurs got just four more hits over the next seven innings and did not score again.
