FARGO, N.D. – The Milwaukee Milkmen scored the first eight runs of Wednesday night’s game and held off a late RedHawks rally to win Game 2 of the three-game series by a score of 10-6 in front of 1,103 fans at Newman Outdoor Field.
A six-run fifth inning for the Milkmen put the visiting team in front 8-0, the same score the RedHawks led Tuesday night’s game by before a Milwaukee rally kept the game close. Adam Walker capped the inning with a three-run home run, his third of the 2020 season.
Drew Ward got the RedHawks on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth, his second long ball in as many games, and brought in another run in the sixth with an RBI double. Ward went 2-for-5 in the game with a home run, a double, and two RBIs.
Fargo-Moorhead scored two runs each in the seventh and eighth, and stranded two runners in the eighth, but ultimately came up short in the ninth against Milwaukee reliever Myles Smith.
Dylan Kelly and Trey Hair each picked up three hits in the game for the RedHawks.
Matt Tomshaw (0-1) earned his first loss of the year after giving up seven runs on 12 hits in 4.1 innings pitched tonight. Angel Ventura (2-1) picked up the win for the Milkmen after giving up four runs on nine hits in 6.0 innings of work.
The RedHawks dropped to 4-7 on the year and Milwaukee moved to 6-4 and picked up a half game in the standings with Sioux Falls off.
Fargo-Moorhead and Milwaukee will finish off their three-game set on Thursday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. RHP Ryan Williams (0-0) is scheduled to start for the RedHawks against Milwaukee LHP David Holmberg (1-1).
