FARGO, N.D. – The Chicago White Sox have purchased the contract of RedHawks pitcher Matt Tomshaw’s and has been invited to the 2021 White Sox Major League Camp in Arizona.

Tomshaw had a stellar season with the RedHawks in 2020, going 5-3 in 11 starts. He was in the American Association’s top 10 for wins (5), ERA (2.69), strikeouts (62), innings pitched (80.1) and lead the league in complete games with three. Named the AA Pitcher of the Week twice (July 27-Aug 2 and Aug 24-30), Tomshaw completed the month by being named the AA Pitcher of the Month for August.

RedHawks manager Chris Coste said “We are happy to see Matt get this opportunity with the White Sox. He is a great example of what the RedHawks and the American Association are all about and look forward to seeing his progression towards the Major Leagues.”

Drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 2011 MLB June Amateur Draft, Tomshaw has played the past nine seasons in the affiliated-minor leagues for the Twins, Marlins and White Sox organizations. He split time in the 2019 season with the Charlotte Knights (AAA) and the Birmingham Barons (AA) where he went 9-7 with a 3.16 ERA. The Kingston, NY native played collegiately for Jacksonville University and resides in Florida during the off-season.
