FARGO, N.D. – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks announce the signing of pitcher Alex DuBord for the 2021 season.
DuBord, 24, was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 10th round of the 2018 MLB Amateur Draft. Prior to that, the Fargo native played for the Fargo South Bruins High School baseball team and the American Legion Post 400 team. After high school, DuBord played for Neosho County Community College (Chanute, Kan.) for two years, before going to Faulkner University (Montgomery Ala.) and reaching the NAIA World Series in 2018.
After the 2018 MLB Amateur Draft, Alex was assigned to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in the Northwest League (Short-Season A). He played the 2018 and part of the 2019 season with the Volcanoes before going to the Giants Orange in the Arizona League (Rookie). Alex sat out the 2020 season as the MLB affiliate minor league system was shut down due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
In his two seasons with the Giants affiliated minor league teams, DuBord had a 2-4 career record with an 8.82 ERA and two saves. He pitched 49.0 innings, with 47 SO, 30 BB and gave up six home runs.
RedHawks manager Chris Coste said“Alex is a diamond in the rough and exactly what we look for in young pitchers. We expect good things from him because we feel his best baseball is ahead of him.”
DuBord is one of seven pitchers currently signed to play for the RedHawks in 2021.
