FARGO, North Dakota – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (24-13) split the seven-inning double-header with the Sioux City Explorers (18-21) on a wet Saturday night in June at Newman Outdoor Field.

GAME ONE: Explorers 1 – RedHawks 2

In the first set of seven, the offense, or lack thereof, would be the story as RedHawks’ starter Correlle Prime would limit the X’s bats to one run off three hits and three walks while striking out five in six innings of work. As great as his performance was, the right-hander would be out dueled by Explorers’ starter Austin Drury who pitched six innings of no-hit baseball as the only base runners the lefty allowed was from four walks.

Sioux City jumped ahead first, scoring a run in the top of the third by combining the efforts of a leadoff single, a wild pitch followed by another single for the game’s opening salvo. The RedHawks’ would start to get something going as a leadoff single from Leo Pina would end the no-hit bid and force a pitching change from the X’s. Prime would greet the new arm by drawing a five-pitch walk. Following a couple of strikeouts, Jack Hanson will collect his first professional hit with an infield single to the third baseman to load the bases. In the following at-bat, Zack Miller, who was recently acquired from Lincoln for a player to be named later, drops a single into left field and with runners going on contact, Prime was already around third on his way to score to allow the RedHawks to walk off the ballgame.

Notable RedHawks

Zack Miller: 1/3 – 2 RBI

Jack Hanson: 1/2 – BB, SO

Correlle Prime: ND, 6.0 IP, ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 5 SO

GAME TWO: Explorers 8 – RedHawks 1

Sioux City’s offense came back around in game two as they opened the ball game scoring three runs off Fargo-Moorhead’s starter Garrett Alexander. The RedHawks would respond with a run in the bottom of the second as three singles from Alec Olund, Jack Hanson and B.J. Lopez would load the bases for Andy Gravdahl who would beat out a double play to score Olund from third to make it a 3-1 game. The X’s would use a couple of home runs off Alexander and RedHawks’ reliver Conor Maguire to add five more runs to bring the game to its final score.
